Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe Review & Mizuno Wave Sayonara Video Review
Fans of the Mizuno Wave Precision and the Mizuno Wave Elixir series will be sad to see their favorite running shoes exit the market in the very near future. But fear not, because saying sayonara to those shoes means saying hello to the new and unique Mizuno Wave Sayonara. This brand new shoe is going to shake up the running world by creating its own category as a neutral runner that also provides exceptional support for slight over and underpronators.

Mizuno Mid-Atlantic Territory Manager Dave Patterson brought a pair to Holabird Sports and described them as “a glimpse of the future now.” Dave said that Mizuno is working to move away from labeling types of runners “in a box on a chart” and working toward catering to the running experience altogether. According to Dave, this shoe is designed to “hit a broader customer target” as it joins two existing products into one. Runners will be able to get use out of the Sayonara as a track, road, racing flat or everyday trainer.

Here’s the run-down on the all new Mizuno Wave Sayonara running shoes:

At 8.1 ounces (men size 9) with a 10mm offset, these super lightweight shoes are more responsive and even faster. A low-to-the-ground profile delivers quicker transitions and a slightly wider forefoot provides increased stability. Mizuno has replaced their AP+ midsole material with new 30% lighter U4ic (pronounced euphoric) foam that still provides the same cushion and support as AP+. A G3 outsole at the forefoot offers lightweight grip and X-10™ at the heel absorbs shock and enhances durability upon heel strike. Mizuno Wave Technology® keeps the runner’s foot centered in the shoe and guides the foot depending on if you overpronate or underpronate. A broken up wave plate at the heel delivers softer impact. Almost no stitching on the upper offers less weight and irritation on the top of the foot. Instead, supportive films bonded together with a heating process deliver a secure fit.

Through the Mezamishii Run Project, Mizuno has been selecting some lucky applicants to wear test a pair of the shoes for themselves and a friend before the official July release date. The Mizuno Wave Precision will be available until the end of June and the Mizuno Wave Elixir will disappear at the beginning of the New Year.
