Mizuno Wave Hitogami -- from Kabuki Theatre to a Shoe Evolution (Video)
Mizuno Wave Hitogami Running Shoe Preview

If you are a fan of the Mizuno Wave Musha or the Mizuno Wave Ronin, prepare yourself for a shoe evolution. Mizuno will be retiring both the Ronin and the Musha and will be replacing them with the new Mizuno Wave Hitogami in January 2014.

The Wave Hitogami derives its name from Japanese Kabuki theatre, where performers paint their faces and wear masks to assume new and fantastic identities. Some performers may even become man-gods, or hitogami.

How can the Mizuno Hitogami transform you into a running god?

The Mizuno Wave Hitogami is designed to help you slash PRs and enhance your racing--be it for 5Ks, 10Ks, or even marathons. The shoe will include Mizuno's new U4ic ("euphoric") midsole compound, which is 30% lighter than its predecessor, but equally as cushioned and comfortable. Likewise, it is a great option for faster runs, track workouts, or even ordinary training days when you crave a lighter ride. The shoe weighs 7.4 ounces for men and 6.2 ounces for women.

Though the Wave Hitogami is listed as a neutral model, Mizuno's Mid-Atlantic Territory Manager Dave Patterson indicates that new Wave technology has broadened the shoe's reach to overpronators and stability-shoe-wearers.

"It provides a smooth ride for neutral runners, while actively providing guidance for overpronators when they need it," said Patterson.
